The dinners, overpriced overproduced industry events, the constant “we should connect!” I understand relationships matter, but sometimes it feels like having a career in weddings requires maintaining a second career in being socially visible. And I just don’t want one. I’d rather keep whatever little piece of a personal life I can outside of this already very demanding job.

Your clients do not care about your busy season
We get it, you work in weddings. Not everyone has the same busy season, and your audience probably is not tracking your schedule. The only people who really get it or care are other vendors. Being overworked is not a personality…and aren’t you your own boss? I’m already annoyed.

I chose my sanity over the disrespect and it feels soooo good. No matter what conversations were had they were unwilling to change their attitudes for the demand. I didn't notice the vibes till after and I'm so relieved to be rid of them. So glad to have walked away.

I'm making more per wedding but I've never felt less connected to the people booking me. I'd rather book a little more to make the same and really vibe with the couples vs. what it's been feeling like...
I shouldn’t have to defend my contract on wedding day
Why are some larger vendor teams showing up without knowing what’s going on??? If your team is representing your company, they should know the expectations, the timeline!!, and what was already agreed on with the clients. Other vendors shouldn’t have to spend time on site explaining or defending decisions that were settled a while ago. Good communication within your team is part of the service!

Do we confuse personal access with connection?
I’m a pretty private person, and so is my family. I’ve noticed that in this industry, feeling like you can trust/are connected can sometimes mean knowing their whole story, where they’re from, hobbies, relationship, life plans, personal beliefs etc. But for me, those questions don’t necessarily make me feel more connected. I want to remain focused and vibe energetically. How much do you want to know your vendor team personally?
