We look successful at these networking events, but conversations say otherwise…

CC:PhotographersVideographersFloristsPlanners

I attended a very popular wedding industry event this week. A lot of us are in the same boat: attending these events to be seen, connecting with vendors in the hopes of building a relationship, showing our “status” in the industry with our outfits, yet none of us are booking weddings. Are these events worth it? Why are we all attending, wearing the best of the best to prove we are luxury, yet only having three events on the calendar? It’s exhausting putting on a show to prove you’re successful.

Our industry lacks bravery

CC:PhotographersVideographersFloristsPlanners

The most creative people take risks and try new things… We need more of that AND people who support the risk takers NOT just the viral or safe 👏

I have never seen so many couples post on socials looking for vendors

CC:PhotographersVideographersFloristsPlanners

On one hand I really get it…planning is overwhelming and there’s so my vendors to choose from. But like does anyone really talented that actually charges money ever comment on those?? Personally not a fan of this new trend but like people keep doing it because of all the pick me girls that show up!

I got respect for videographers maaaan

CC:Videographers

The amount of work ya’ll gotta do on the backend is craaaaazzzzy. But like YO, I need em to get the F outta the way on wedding days and read the room. It’s always a videographer saying something a bit off…like decorum? And there’s so many that hold it down for ya’ll but a lot of em who give you a bad rep! What’s up with that!!

The more you know…

High-end planners aren’t seeking out discounts. They usually get paid a % of the total event, your discount deal (not requested) doesn’t benefit them…when you’re trying to land the job.

LESS is more!

CC:PhotographersVideographersPlanners

Sometimes, the less people on your team the better! The amount of vendors on site these days is getting quite ridiculous 😅

Where do you place the parents?

Where do you place the parents/couples during portraits with the wedding couple?

As a planner, I’m not your business manager!

CC:PhotographersVideographersFlorists

As the planner I’m having to micro manage…your pricing doesn’t reflect your business standards or lack there of. I should not have to hand hold you through every necessary task. And PLEASE respond to my emails within 3 days MAX. I don’t know who said 5 days is ok but it’s absolutely not!!!!

What happened to genuine engagement?

CC:PhotographersVideographersFloristsPlanners

Does anyone else feel like many, if not most, online industry relationships have become incredibly surface level? Every comment is “sooo good 🔥” or “obsessed 😍” regardless of what’s actually being said. Where are the people who want real conversations, thoughtful responses, genuine curiosity, and actual connection? Lately it feels empty, fake, and performative 😵‍💫 I get that we’re all tired and stretched thin, but I’m getting tired of giving energy I don’t receive back.

Planners, give us a crumb AT LEAST

CC:Planners

I get you’re navigating a lot when supporting clients with booking vendors, I really really do! When booking vendors for your couples or being the middle man, would you give us a little something when they’ve moved on (especially after a call and proposal)?? No answer is an answer (but the timeline is never fully clear) yet it would save us a lot of time and energy if you communicated, even something small, “it came down to price, they’ve chosen another florist”… Pretty pretty please!
